About the data
Insights are generated by analysing real-time occupancy data made available via Transport for NSW's Car park API.
Data is provided for informational purposes only. Estimates are based on historical data and may not be up-to-date. Factors like special events, trackwork, or weather can significantly impact daily availability.
Methodology
Typical Range is based on a 90% confidence interval. A narrow range means the number of available spots is more consistent, whereas a larger range means the number of available spots varies significantly.
A car park is typically full by a certain time if this is observed at least 80% of the time.
A car park typically becomes available when at least 5 spots free up (after being full). The time shown is also based on what is observed at least 80% of the time.
Predictions prioritise recent behaviour over older history. A decay formula is used to allow the tool to adapt as commuting habits change over time.
